Staying Safe During COVID 19

Here many of us sit in our homes wondering what the future will bring. Many are out of work like myself, but at least I have enough funds to pull through where many others do not. So how do we cope being cooped up in our homes?

I found that making a to do list is very helpful in finding things to do. I have taken care of some household chores that usually go on the wayside. One is going through papers and getting them shredded. What a good feeling I had getting rid of a lot of paper that had accumulated over a year. Having to be wiping things down several times a day also affords keeping the kitchen and bathroom in tip top shape. Even the living room is in really good order.

To stay mentally balanced I do indoor exercising. I take a few minutes in the morning and then later in the afternoon or early evening. I would love to go for a walk but with there being more positive cases for the COVID 19 it is better to stay in as much as possible. DVD's can also be a nice alternative to exercise too. I have several that I enjoy. I can't do exercises that require any jumping because I live over someone but a few are very good and I work up quite a sweat.

Those of us that have asthma, diabetes, have autoimmune diseases and those who smoke, are in a higher risk category. Add on being 60 and over things are even more stacked against us. My doctors recommended that I keep eating healthy, drinking lots of water to keep flushing my system, take Zinc, vitamin D3, multivitamin, and vitamin C. This I hope will help if I should fall ill.

Another thing I have been enjoying is coloring. I have a couple of adult coloring books and a good set of colored pencils. This helps to spend time doing something where I don't need to think about what is going on outside. I find this helps me also in controlling my appetite as I do have a tendency to want to nibble when I am bored and I am trying to loose weight. One thing I don't want to do is gain more while being at home.

Keeping a journal during this time in also very important in a historical way. Recording how the pandemic is spreading in my area, my experiences in staying at home, and if I should fall ill how did I manage. Another would be how did our own local officials do in assisting those in their communities. These are things that should be recorded. Historian's will want this information later.

Since I am home and now have internet I will be posting often during this time. Please stay positive during this difficult time.
